Storage Engineer

Storage Engineer will perform day to day storage operations, including fabric zoning changes, presenting SAN as well as NAS storage, coordinating maintenance efforts, and minor to major failure remediation. You will work with Systems Engineers to present storage to AIX/Solaris/Linux/Windows and Main Frame. You will also work closely with the Backup & Recovery team to provide zoning adjustments to virtual tape libraries and tape drives.

Responsibilities include:
• Work closely with Systems Engineers to support existing storage deployments
• Hands on operations with Fabric switches, NAS and SAN storage units
• Work closely with vendor technicians to resolve any issues
• Will need to coordinate all maintenance and repair work, from minor non-impacting issues to major failures
• Stay on top of existing recommended microcode & firmware levels and provide support for upgrades
• Create and maintain documentation of environments
• Understand and diagnose performance issues and proactively resolve issues within proper change control methodology

Requirements:
• 3-4 years of Storage & SAN experience
• At least 5 years of Systems Engineering experience (Windows or Unix)
• Strong understanding of RAID technologies
• Strong technical understanding of NetApp, Hitachi storage systems (EMC a plus)
• Strong technical understanding of Cisco, Brocade and McData fabric switches
